 Peer Guidance Program: Second-Year Experience

 group gathering

Second Year, New Opportunities.

Your second year at UC San Diego is a pivotal time — you're no longer navigating the "newness" of college, but now you're asking, what’s next? The Peer Guidance Program (PGP) is here to support you as you build your leadership skills, expand your campus connections, and prepare for the opportunities ahead.

Whether you participated in PGP last year or this is your first time hearing about us, you are invited to join a community of peers and mentors who are ready to support your journey.

What is the Peer Guidance Program?

PGP is a peer mentorship program designed to help you grow as a student leader while connecting with a supportive community. As a second-year mentee, you'll gain access to resources that will prepare you for internships, research, leadership roles, and more during your upperclassmen years.

Benefits for Second-Year Students:

  • Leadership Workshops exclusive to second-year students

  • Opportunities to build a leadership portfolio you can use for internships, jobs, and grad school applications

  • Spaces for mentees to connect in community and navigate the second-year experience together

  • Co-Curricular Record (CCR) credit to showcase your campus involvement

  • Letter of Recommendation opportunity upon completing program milestones

You'll also be paired with a Peer Guidance Leader (PGL) — a trained peer mentor — who will support you with personalized guidance as you work towards your academic, professional, and personal goals.

How to Join:

Ready to invest in yourself this year? The Peer Guidance Program application for second-year students and transfer students for the incoming Fall 2025 Quarter is NOW OPEN! New mentees will be notified of their paired Peer Guidance Leader in October 2025.

*Decisions for the Peer Guidance Program do not take race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and/or other protected categories into consideration.
